Measure 26-217: Police oversight board

Measure 26-217 would authorize a new independent community police oversight board. The trick will be in who actually sits on that board, but citizen oversight over cops is a good thing. There needs to be accountability. There also needs to be better transparency.

Unfortunately, the oversight board likely will be politicized and turn into an excuse to bash police officers who want to arrest stabbers, but we can dream of something better when we elect a better council someday. Vote yes.
